My Liebster nomination

First of all I would like to thank MrsAtoB for the nomination. A Liebster award is awarded by bloggers to fellow bloggers, spreading the word about new travel blogs and help them gain readership. Which we all want, right?

Mrs A to B has a wonderful blog with a great selection of content ranging from travel posts to beauty. From tips to stories of her personal adventures there is something for everyone over on her blog.

It is an honor to be nominated! You can check out my answers to Mrs A to B’s questions below.

What is the story behind starting your blog?

A whole year ago now, I was assigned the task of setting up a multimedia based blog for my  Journalism degree at university. Traveling has always been a big part of my life. I have traveled with my family since I was three months old, followed by exploring many places with friends. Therefore, Travel seemed the perfect area to enter.

My Niche is student travel, as I understand the struggle of keeping up with a part time job, studying for a degree and managing to travel too.

How do you fit blogging into your jet-setting lifestyle?

At the minute, my jet-setting is very limited. It’s difficult to save whilst only working part time and my holidays are limited due to studying and working. Blogging often comes second, but it’s been important for me to try to keep up to date.

I write content when I have the time and then schedule it for the best appropriate times. I also enjoy writing about my adventures and my top tips, enjoying it makes it less difficult to squeeze in.

My top tip is to save your holidays for a big trip or use up your weekends visiting sites that are close to home. I managed to save enough money and time off to visit Coachella music festival in 2015 (Read about it here) and at the age of 19 it was one of the my best traveling experiences to date.

Which destination is top of your wanderlust wishlist?

How am I supposed to pick only ONE? This is impossible. My top two destinations- that I’m yet to visit- are Santorini and Bora Bora.

I understand these sound particularly cliche, but it is my absolute dream to wake up with a sea view on either of these islands. My reason for not visiting as of yet is down to the cost. I am all for budget traveling and often agree with those of you who have a better experience whilst counting the pounds. However, I feel these two islands offer so much luxury I wouldn’t want to change that.

Who doesn’t dream of waking up in the middle of the ocean? Shout out to the InterContinental Bora Bora resort & spa, I am more than willing to write a shining review for a free stay.

What is your biggest #travelstoke moment of 2016?

This one might not seem so big to all of you explorers, but 2016 allowed me the chance to see my wonderful cousin get married in Icmeler, Turkey.

It is such a beautiful place, with incredible weather and scenery. Making it the perfect place for a special wedding.

What is your biggest #travelfail moment?

Don’t get me wrong, I am fully aware this is not the worst that can happen when you are traveling, but it is pretty annoying when you are jet-lagged and 100% grouchy.

Whilst traveling to Los Angeles in 2015, we had to make a few stops along the way.

Newcastle (England)- Amsterdam- San Francisco- Los Angeles

Totaling a rather uncomfortable 22 hours of traveling. In the end, it was obviously worth every minute however, after being delayed in San Francisco airport due to ridiculous queues through immigration (get it sorted SFO) meant our connecting flight was missed. We then had to wait an extra three hours for another flight, our cases were lost within LAX by this point as they had left without us and our transport to our hotel, sadly gone.

What advice would you give to fellow bloggers?

For me it was all about focusing on something I love. Your blog will offer something fresh and exciting if you are enthusiastic about it yourself.

Content production can feel exhausting at times and feel like extra work (that none of us need) but, if you love what you are writing about it is easy.

Social media is also a huge influence and help when gaining readers, so start Tweeting!

What blogging equipment do you find most useful on the road?

It is as simply as taking your smart phone everywhere you go. It is nice to disconnect from time to time; but what happens when the sun sets over your favourite beach and you don’t have a camera to capture the moment? Exactly, take it with you!

Pictures are one of the most important things to remember when blogging. Attractive images might make a new viewer, click on a link to your blog.

Plus, your smart phone offers the chance to record videos, capture images, write posts and record sound. What else do you really need?

What have you learnt about yourself, whilst traveling?

Traveling is the most valuable experience of all. Each time I visit somewhere, I learn something new.

Traveling alone teaches you about your own strength and understanding. Traveling within large groups, teaches you about compromise and respect. Traveling with family or your partner allows you to escape normality, whilst teaching you all there is to know about the other person.

GIRLS HOLIDAY: My first girls holiday 2014

Where do you prefer staying? For example, Hotels or AirBnB’s.

I am not a snob, by any means, but I do feel more comfortable in a nice, clean hotel. I have stayed in some incredible hotels across the world, including the stunning Riu Cancun in Mexico and the Millenium Hilton in New York City.

However, I fully understand the requirements of a budget and have also stayed in many Motels across America, and hostels in France and Belguim.

Where is your next adventure taking you?

My next adventure will see me and my boyfriend celebrating my 21st birthday in New York City.

Around five years ago I fell in love with the Big Apple, I’ve returned twice since and can’t wait for my next trip. Each time I visit I feel like a little part of me falls more in love with this incredible city.

What can I say? I’m in love! So much so, I’ll be going back in November as well as March.

I have enjoyed reminiscing over past experiences, and allowing you all to find out a little bit more about me.

I would love to pass this nomination on to the wonderful girl behind The travelling Bookworm. At such a young age Rhiann is already inspiring lots of readers over on her blog. She is similar to me in the sense traveling and studying come hand in hand, you can read her post on my blog here, to learn more about the continuous balancing act.

Here are my questions:

  1. What inspired you to write about travel?
  2. Where is your dream destination?
  3. What has been your favourite adventure to date?
  4. What advice would you give to fellow bloggers?
  5. What is your favourite travel quote?

Check out Rhiann’s blog for some great traveling tips!
