Recently I spent five nights in New York City. As many of you will know, time spent in your hotel has to be kept to a minimum when exploring the realms of the city.
However, after my original booking had some rather interesting reviews (I won’t name and shame but let me tell you, I do not welcome rats and mice to share my accommodation), I decided I wanted somewhere a little nicer.
After searching for around eight hours, nervously checking trip advisor each time I found a suitable spot, I stumbled upon The Ameritania Hotel.
From arrival, the concierge and reception staff were excellent. All were friendly, welcoming and informative. Exactly what you want after a long journey (not to mention customs at JFK!).
The reception area is immaculately clean, modern and bright. Giving a fantastic first impression. Plus on first glance you can spot the hotel bar, handy!
Our luggage was taken off us very quickly and the check in process was a breeze. Tourist information and a map of the city and subway’s was also given, and that little map saved us a good few times.
We were met on our floor by the concierge, along with our luggage. He welcomed us into the room and showed us round.
Once again, the room was clean and modern! The bathroom had a huge shower and plenty of the essentials such as toilet paper, towels and a small pot including the added extras you may have forgotten.
Me and my partner selected the deluxe double room, not realizing this would include not one but TWO double beds. (Shout out to the extra room in bed!)
With recent experiences I have found hotel rooms in NYC to be on the small side, so expected just that but, I couldn’t have been more wrong. This room was large for a city hotel and especially for only two people.
The mini bar was full of every alcoholic beverage imaginable, along with soft drinks and snacks. As we were travelling for my birthday the hotel even provided a complimentary bottle of wine.
The room was so clean, we ate dinner sat on the floor on more than one occasion! Each morning, cleaning staff came to clean and tidy our hotel room, providing fresh towels each time.
Each room also comes with the complimentary use of the safe. Always a plus in a large city.
Whenever you book a hotel in the city your main thought should be LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. And once again the Amertania scored 10/10!
We were a maximum ten minute walk from Central Park and only five minutes from Times square. You literally couldn’t ask for better.
I would 100% recommend anyone to stay in this beautifully located hotel. It is the perfect base for your city break and very well priced.
